E. Wes Bethel, Senior Computer Scientist

Bethel is a senior computer scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where he is a member of and Group Leader for the Scientific Visualization group in the Computational Research Division. His technical background in computer and data science spans several fields, which lie at the nexus of computing and data: high performance computing, scientific/information visualization, graphics, scientific data/image analysis, and machine learning. He earned an MS in Computer Science from the University of Tulsa in 1986, and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of California, Davis, in 2010. He is a member of ACM, ACM/SIGGRAPH, ACM/SIGHPC and IEEE, and an ACM Distinguished Scientist.
